In his written message to the International Conference on Green Hydrogen (ICGH 2023) that has just commenced in New Delhi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called for international collaborations in realizing the global vision towards a clean and green planet, with special emphasis on the role of green hydrogen in this regard.

Acknowledging the challenges posed by climate change in every walks of human life, Modi said that sustainable energy solutions are the need of the hour. "Green hydrogen will play a crucial role in our pursuit towards sustainable growth and decarbonization. Platforms like ICGH 2023 provides opportunity for global scientific community, industries and academia to engage in new deliberations, exchange of ideas, and learning to establish a green hydrogen ecosystem", he noted.

He further added, "India is the only major economy to source about 40 percent of energy from non-fossil fuel sources, achieving this feat nine years ahead of target set for 2030. We want to expand renewable sources such as bio-fuels, ethanol, bio-gas, solar and green hydrogen".

Citing the country's National Green Hydrogen Mission that lays down a foundational roadmap for a decade to promote research, development and deployment of green hydrogen across various domains and applications, the Prime Minister affirmed, "India as a nation committed to sustainable development is making significant strides in advancing green hydrogen technologies".

Organized by the Government of India, the International Conference on Green Hydrogen (ICGH 2023) is the first-of-its-kind event that aims to bring together the global scientific, policy, academic and industrial leaders to discuss recent advances and emerging technologies in the entire green hydrogen value chain.
