AVAADA Group, Tata Steel SEZ to set up green ammonia plant in Odisha

AVAADA Group, an integrated energy company on Thursday said it has signed an agreement with Tata Steel Special Economic Zone Ltd (TSSEZL) for a green hydrogen and green ammonia manufacturing unit at Gopalpur Industrial Park, Odisha.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between AVAADA Group and TSSEZL yesterday and aims to accelerate the shift to green energy and strengthening India's efforts to emerge as a global green hydrogen manufacturing hub. While the financial details of the project were not disclosed, AVAADA Group has stated the project will help curtail annual carbon dioxide emissions by nearly 2 million tonnes and create thousands of direct and indirect employment opportunities. 

"The MoU is a crucial milestone in our journey towards the fruition of our green ammonia venture," said Vineet Mittal, Chairman of AVAADA Group.

Commending the strong support by the Government of Odisha, Mittal encouraged all division heads within the AVAADA Group to amplify investments across various sectors in the state.

"The government officials in Odisha are not just regulators but facilitators, offering hands-on guidance through every step of the business process…The single-window clearance system in Odisha is not merely a policy on paper but a lived reality, making it an ideal destination for sustainable business growth," Mittal added.

The AVAADA Group is an integrated energy company with a portfolio spanning from solar ingot manufacturing, renewable energy to green ammonia production. The group has set an ambitious target to achieve 11GW of operational projects by 2026 and 30GW by 2030.
